What Money Melon can do

There is more here than expense tracking, so it is grouped to help you find what you came for.

Log it fast

The easier it is to log, the more likely you keep going. There are several ways in.

Scan receipts and slips

Photograph a receipt or a transfer slip and AI breaks it into line items and suggests a category for each. Check it and confirm.

See how it looks

1. Photograph the receipt

2. The app reads it

3. Check the line items

4. Review, then save the lot

  • One receipt becomes several entries, not a single lump sum
  • Categories are suggested from the item names, tap to confirm or change
  • Add a discount and see the gross and the net before you save

Log by voice

Say what you spent and on what, and the app turns it into a transaction. No typing while you are in a hurry.

See how it looks

1. Hold and speak

2. Check what it heard

3. One sentence, two entries

  • Say several things in one go and they come back as separate entries
  • What you said stays on the card, so you can check it heard you right
  • Voice and receipts land on the same screen and save together

Transaction templates

Save the things you log over and over as templates. One tap creates the entry.

See how it looks

1. Keep what you pay for often

2. Tap it from the home screen

  • One template holds the name, amount, category and account
  • One tap saves it, with no form to fill in again
  • Quick Add puts them on the home screen, so you never leave it

Built-in calculator

Do the maths while entering an amount instead of switching to another app.

See how it looks

1. Do the maths in the app

2. Or right on the number pad

  • Open it on its own from the shortcut
  • Or put it on the number pad, so the total carries into the amount

Attach images

Keep a photo of the receipt or transfer confirmation with the transaction for later.

See how it looks

1. Images live on the entry

2. Open one full screen

  • Keep the receipt or slip with the entry it belongs to
  • Several images per entry, each one opens full screen
  • Part of the Premium plan

Keep money organised

Make it clear which money belongs to what.

Multiple accounts

Cash, bank accounts, e-wallets and more. Pin the ones you use most, and decide which ones count toward your total balance.

See how it looks

1. Every wallet in one place

2. Open one and see it whole

  • Credit cards hold their limit and their payment due day too
  • Each account breaks down into income, expense, transfers in and transfers out
  • The free plan holds 2 accounts, Premium is unlimited

Separate books

Keep separate books for things that should not mix, like personal money and a side business.

See how it looks

1. Switch books from one screen

2. A different book, different numbers

  • Each book has its own accounts, categories, entries and reports
  • Set the currency and the day a month starts per book
  • The free plan holds 2 books, Premium is unlimited

Categories and tags

Build your own categories with icons and colours, then add tags to see totals that cut across categories.

See how it looks

1. Categories and sub-categories

2. Several tags on one entry

  • Two levels deep, with an icon and a colour on every one
  • Made too many? Merge them, or move the entries somewhere else before deleting
  • One entry takes several tags, so a tag can cut across categories

Group transactions

Collect related entries into a folder: one trip, one project, one event.

See how it looks

1. One thing, one folder

2. Open it and see where it went

  • Nest folders inside folders and still see the total for the whole thing
  • Pull in entries you already saved, several at a time
  • Delete a folder and the entries stay in your history

Transfers and split transfers

Move money between your own accounts, or split one amount across several destinations at once.

See how it looks

1. Move money between accounts

2. Or spread it across several

  • Money you move between your own accounts is not counted as income or expense
  • Split one amount across several destinations in a single entry, or divide it evenly
  • Transfer across currencies and see the converted amount on the other side

Plan ahead

Know what is coming this month and what is left to spend.

Budgets by category

Set a budget per category and always see what is left, before you find out you went over.

See how it looks

1. Every budget on one screen

2. Know before you go over

  • Every bar carries a tick for how far into the period today is: past the tick means spending too fast
  • It projects where the period will end and what you can still spend per day to stay inside
  • Budget by count instead of money, like no more than 8 delivery orders a month

Recurring entries

Rent, utilities, subscriptions: set them once and confirm them when they come due.

See how it looks

1. Set it up once

2. Confirm it when it is due

  • Repeat daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, with a set number of rounds
  • The app never records them for you, because some rounds are not actually paid, so the numbers stay true
  • Skip a round you did not pay and the next one still arrives on schedule

Instalments

Record a payment plan and track how many periods are paid, how many remain, and what it costs you monthly.

See how it looks

1. Every plan you are paying

2. How much of this one is interest

  • Handles both reducing balance and flat rate interest, whichever your contract uses
  • Already part way through? Start from where you are, no need to enter every past period
  • The free plan holds 2 plans, Premium is unlimited

Pending and due dates

Unpaid entries get their own place, with a due-date calendar and reminders ahead of time.

See how it looks

1. Unpaid bills in one place

2. What this month has waiting

  • Two tabs, not yet due and overdue, with what is waiting to come in and go out
  • One calendar for everything with a due date: bills, recurring entries, card payments and instalments
  • Remind you 2 days ahead on the free plan, up to 10 days on Premium

See the real picture

Numbers that tell you how this month differs from the last one.

Expense summary

Income, expenses and balance, broken down by category and by account.

See how it looks

1. Where the money went

2. What made up that total

  • Every category with its share, either main categories only or every sub-category opened up.
  • Tap the total to see which single items cost the most, which days were heaviest, and the daily average.
  • The per-transaction average tells you whether the problem is buying often or buying expensive, which are fixed differently.

Spending calendar

A month at a glance: which days were heavy, and how many days you spent nothing at all.

See how it looks

1. Which days were heavy

2. What you paid for that day

  • The intensity calendar sits on the home screen, so you see the shape of the month before tapping anything.
  • Tap any day in the calendar to see its income, its expenses and every transaction on it.
  • The free plan looks back 2 months; Premium covers every month.

Comparisons

Compare month to month, or category to category, to spot what grew when it should not have.

See how it looks

1. How this month differs

2. Is this category unusually high

  • This period against the last one, category by category, as a percentage, with anything brand new flagged.
  • Follow a single category across periods: by day, by week, by month or by year.
  • Sort by percentage change, by amount, or by name.

Totals by tag

See what everything under a tag adds up to: a trip, a project, a shared cost.

See how it looks

1. What each thing cost you

2. Which tags are growing

  • Answers what a category report cannot, because one trip's spending is scattered across many categories.
  • The by-month tab is a rolling table, so you can see which tags are growing and which are fading.
  • A transaction with several tags counts under each of them, so the grand total can read higher than reality. The app says so on the page.

More than income and expenses

The parts that show your whole financial position, not just what moved.

Savings goals

Set how much you want to save by when, then track how close you are.

See how it looks

1. Every goal on one page

2. One slot at a time until the grid fills

  • What you save is held back from the spendable balance of a real account, not a number floating beside it.
  • Or split a goal into slots and fill one at a time, picking whichever one you can manage today.
  • The free plan holds 2 goals, counting both the open and the grid kind; Premium is unlimited.

Gold savings

Record the gold you hold so you can compare your cost against the current market price.

See how it looks

1. What the gold is worth now

2. The real gain once labor cost comes off

  • Labor cost is kept apart from the gold price itself, so the cost your return is measured against is what you really paid.
  • You can choose not to log it as an expense, because buying gold moves money rather than spends it.
  • The free plan holds 2 entries; Premium is unlimited.

Stocks and investments

Record the stocks you hold to follow their value and your gains or losses.

See how it looks

1. The whole portfolio at once

2. Where this one stands

  • Thai stocks, foreign stocks and ETFs in one portfolio, instead of three apps and a calculator.
  • Log a further purchase and the average cost is recalculated; log a sale and it reports the gain you actually took.
  • It does not connect to your broker, so entries are yours to keep current, and the free plan holds 2 of them.

Loans and split bills

Track who owes you, who you owe, and split a bill with friends inside the app.

See how it looks

1. Who owes you what

2. Pay for the table without forgetting who owes

  • Borrowed and lent stay clearly apart, each tied to a person, with repayments logged one at a time and a full history.
  • Add interest, set a due date, and the loan turns up in the seven-day due section on the home screen.
  • Split a bill once and you get your own share as an expense plus a separate loan for each friend.

Net worth

Roll everything into one figure so you can see which way your overall position is moving.

See how it looks

1. What you hold today

2. What is left once debt comes off

  • Built from what you have already recorded, with nothing to re-enter: accounts, gold, stocks and money you have lent out.
  • The liabilities side gathers credit cards, instalment plans by type, and money you have borrowed.
  • Only what is in the app counts, so a house, a plot of land or a fund you never recorded will not appear.

Your data stays yours

Store it, move it, and make the app look the way you want.

Backup and restore

Back your data up and restore it when you switch devices or reinstall, with no starting over.

See how it looks

1. The newest file is in the cloud

2. New phone, one restore

  • Turn on a daily automatic backup or run one yourself whenever you like, and see when the newest file was made.
  • Restore on any device signed in to the same account, Android to iPhone included.
  • A restore replaces all current data and cannot be undone. Backing up is a Premium feature.

Export to PDF and CSV

Transaction reports, per-account statements, annual summaries and debt reports, ready to use elsewhere.

See how it looks

1. Pick the report you need

2. Preview it before you share

  • Six reports to choose from, from raw entries to a full year, a tag report and net worth as it stands today.
  • Pick the period, accounts, categories and tags before the file is built, and the language inside it too.
  • Previewing in the app is free. Sharing the file out is a Premium feature.

Multiple currencies

Hold accounts in different currencies together, converted using automatically updated exchange rates.

See how it looks

1. Two currencies, one book

2. The rates behind the conversion

  • Set a currency per account. Anything outside the primary currency carries its code, so two currencies never read as the same amount.
  • Book totals convert to the primary currency on their own, and a cross-currency transfer shows the converted amount on the receiving side.
  • The rates are the latest reference rates the app could fetch, not the rate a bank or an exchange counter would actually give you.

Hide balances

Set any account or book you would rather not show to read as dots instead of figures. What you log stays on your device.

See how it looks

1. Dots where the figures were

2. One switch per account

  • Switch it on per account, and that balance reads as dots everywhere the account appears while the entries themselves stay readable.
  • A whole book can be hidden too, for the one you would rather not have showing a total when you open the app.
  • You can also keep an account out of the total balance without touching the figure it holds.

Notes

Keep money-related reminders in the same app instead of a separate notes app.

See how it looks

1. Money notes, same app

2. A checklist works too

  • Real formatting: headings, bold, checklists, bullets and links, not a bare text box.
  • Search them, pin them, order them yourself, and see when each one was last edited.
  • The free plan holds 2 memos. Premium is unlimited.

Themes and app icon

Light, dark, system, and several other colour schemes, plus a choice of app icons.

See how it looks

1. Seven themes to pick from

2. A different icon on the home screen

  • Seven themes: system, light, dark and four colour schemes, applied across the app the moment you pick one.
  • Two icon frame styles, your language, and which day the calendar week starts on.
  • Four app icons for your home screen. That one is a Premium feature, and the app restarts after the change.
